Last month's Thames Traditional Boat Festival broke records.

With final figures yet to be released organisers are confident they will exceed last year's 10,000 attendance - itself a record. With both boat numbers and trade stands at capacity the revived festival - only recently facing closure - has been voted a resounding success.

A spokesman said: "We are delighted with both the number of people who attended and the very positive comments we have received from visitors and boaters."

The gathering, the largest of its kind in Europe, was extended to three days and saw traditional boats from along the river, from other parts of the country and abroad, including France and Italy, gathered at Fawley Meadows in Henley.

A date has already been set for July 14th - 16th next year and owners of boats which attended this year's festival invited back. Organisers are also working on a number of new attractions for 2017.
