Is this most unusual boat on the river? Maid of Decking is just that - a garden shed on a decking terrace.

Powered by a hidden outboard and controlled from inside the shed, the boat is constructed on a catamaran structure of welded oil drums.

Raising smiles whenever she is out on the river, the vessel raised eyebrows of Environment Agency staff instead on a recent visit to Windsor (pictured). A lock-keeper needed convincing that the EA has indeed licenced it as a leisure craft.

Usually moored downstream of Runnymede, the boat shed has won a national accolade.

Ironically for such an extraordinary craft it won the 'normal shed' award in Channel 4's Amazing Spaces Shed of the Year competition.
