A developer has submitted new plans for a riverside site which includes a once famous but now semi-derelict Thames hotel.

Skindles at Taplow was once a fashionable hotel which numbered Sir Winston Chuchill and Princess Margaret among its guests. A previous plan for the 42-acre site was sent back to the drawing board by South Bucks Council planners.

Now Berkeley Homes have submitted a revised scheme which includes 121 new homes plus 60 retirement apartments.

The hotel will be demolished and a restuarant built in its place (above). The plans include a footbridge to connect the Buckinghamshire bank with Ray Mill Island near Boulters Lock (below right) and a Thames-side walkway (below left).

A public exhibition of the plans is being held at Maidenhead Rowing Club in River Road on Tuesday, June 16, from 4-7.30pm.
