Fine weather greeted one of the first big events on the non-tidal river - the Beale Park Boat and Outdoor Show.

The show has new organisers and saw more trade stands and displays on the lake. Societies involved included the Thames Vintage Boat Club and the Thames Traditonal Boat Society.

This year saw an increased number of boats from all over the country on display by members of the Wooden Boat Builders Trade Association. Featured boats included the 116-year-old steam umpire's launch Consuta, soon to be the main exhibit in a new heritage museum at Beale Park.

Rachel Lane, spokesperson for the organisers said: "'This year, we hope to have provided a family fun day out, whilst maintaining the core importance of the show. We incorporated the traditional wooden boatbuilders with a nod also towards the future of boatbuilding.

"All this was intertwined with an array of activities for families who wanted slightly more than a boat show. We would like to thank everyone who took part in the show and made it such a special weekend."
