More details of the Magna Carta 800th anniversary river relay have been announced.

About 195 craft are taking part in the event on June 13th and 14th. A copy of the Magna Carta (above right) will be carried downstream by 23 charter bearers (pictured above) aboard some of the boats and playlets illustrating the story and importance of Magna Carta will be acted on the riverbank at a number of stops along the river.

The relay will be held over a 20-mile stretch of the Thames between Hurley and Runnymede over the two days.

Among the boats taking part are the Queen's Row Barge Gloriana, the Queen's Shallop Jubilant, the Drapers' Company Shallop Royal Thamesis and the Watermen's Company Shallop Lady Mayoress.

Meanwhile a commemorative coin has been issued to mark the event.Designed by Windsor resident, John Bowens it has an interpretation of King John with a bishop on one side and a baron on the other.
