300 BOATS IN GREAT RIVER RACE

The Great River Race passing Chiswick Pier

Thousands of rowers took to the Thames for the Great River Race through London.

Around 2,400 rowers on 300 boats turned out for the river marathon, which covered 21.6 miles between Millwall docklands and Ham House at Richmond.

Serious competitors were joined by those out for a good time - including a boat full of cheerleaders and a Viking ship carrying 11 Santas.
