BOATS FROM TWO WORLD WARS AT TRAD RALLY


Entries for this year's Thames Traditional Boat Rally have opened - and further details of this year's event released.

The rally at Henley is over the weekend of July 19th and 20th and among the features this year are:

Boats from World Wars I and II -organisers are urging owners with vessels connected with the wars to get in touch.

Amphibious vehicles - a display of road and river vehicles, some more eccentric than others.

The Thames Traditional Boat Society will offer young people the chance to Have a Go in traditional rowing boats accompanied by experienced rowers.

Owners of famous Rampart motor boats are staging their annual rally to coincide with the Henley event and boats are expected from all over the country.

There will be a display of boats equipped with steam outboard motors.

The two-day event is a gathering of many of the most beautiful traditional boats on the Thames. This will be the 36th rally - It has been held virtually every year since 1978.

The rally is run by a voluntary committee and is on the look-out for volunteers to help fill a range of roles.
