NEW PLANNING BID FOR WINDSOR PONTOON

jennings

A new application has been made over a controversial plan for the river at Windsor.

A scheme for a new pontoon for excursion boats at Jennings Wharf close to Windsor Bridge was submitted earlier in the year but withdrawn after objections.

But it has now been resubmitted with modifications - a smaller pontoon and access for passengers via sliding gates in a nearby wall.

Eton College, whose students row on the Thames , and Salters Steamers, who operate from the same stretch of the river, are among the objectors to the new plan.

Concerns about dangers to other river users were cited originally by objectors. But the Environment Agency says it has no waterways objections ot the revised scheme. It has insisted on flood prevention conditions being met and points out that the structure will also need a separate river licence before it is allowed.

The application has been made to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, the locak authority. It is open for views until December 27th.
