LORRY LANDS ON THAMES TUG

A Thames tug was seriously damaged after a lorry rolled off a quay on the River Thames on to the vessel..

The incident happened on Friday (Aug 2nd) on the non-tidal river at Bourne End, Bucks.

The articulated lorry was being loaded with scaffolding that had been used on maintenance works on a nearby railway bridge. Moments before it was due to be driven off the truck rolled backwards on top of the tug berthed nearby. The tug ended up partially under water.

No-one was on board the tug which belongs to Bourne End Marina. No-one was injured in the incident.

On Friday night a heavy crane was being brought in to lift the lorry and tug.
