LOCKS TO CLOSE FOR LATEST MAJOR WORKS


The Environment Agency has released details of the locks to be closed during the winter and spring for work being undertaken in its waterway investment programme.

The list, which is subject to change, includes a major closure at Whitchurch where the road bridge linking the village to Pangbourne is being rebuilt.

In all 14 locks along the non-tidal river are affected.

Grafton Lock 4 November 2013 to 28 February 2014

Re-timbering of lock chamber and tail lock cut bank protection

Bank protection work to the tail lock cut

New support piles for tail layby

Sandford Lock Winter 2013/14
Refurbishment of the lock chamber

Abingdon Lock 6 January 2014 to 14 March 2014
Inspection and re-sheeting of the lock gates

Culham Lock 4 November 2013 to 31 January 2014
Refurbishment and inspection of the lock gates

Whitchurch Lock Winter 2013/14
