A second pageant is to be held on the Thames at Henley  - this time to coincide with the Coronation anniversary.

It follows a similar event last year to mark the Queen’s Jubilee which was staged as an alternative to the main Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant in London.

More than 100 boats are expected to take part in this year’s  event on June 2nd which will raise money for charity.

The pageant aims to attract traditional and character boats. Last year the boats assembled near Temple Island at the downstream end of the Royal Regatta course before sailing through the town to Marsh Meadows.

Around 60 boats took part in 2012’s pageant which attracted crowds to the river banks and bridge. Vessels included slipper launches, motor launches and steam-powered boats plus skiffs and canoes.
