A new guide to the river has been published by the British Marine Federation.

In co-operation with the Environment Agency and with support from the Port of London Authroity the 2012/13 guide contains nformation on both the non-tidal and the tidal river. Together with new maps of the river, the publication includes details of boatyards, marinas and services as well as attractions near the Thames.

Restrictions in place during the Olympics and Paralympics are outlined with general safety advice. Included too are details of connecting waterways - the Oxford, Kennet and Avon, Grand Union and Regents canals plus the River Wey.

Mike Gates, chairman of the BMF's Thames Valley branch, said: "It provides all the relevant information anyone would need whilst boating on the Thames and connecting waterways."
